SAHIWAL, Sept 12: Dera Rahim police on Thursday arrested a councillor and one of his four accomplices for gang-raping a girl in Chak 186/9-L.
Najma took the ill-fated girl (18) to her house on some pretext where accused Ramzan and Mukhtar at dagger point gang-raped her. Later, councillor Malik Abdul Aziz and Ashfaq Ahmed also gang-raped her at different places due to which she became pregnant. After three months, the girl fainted when the accused tried to get the girl’s pregnancy ended. Later, they escaped after throwing the unconscious girl in the village field some three days back. On Friday, the police arrested Aziz and Mukhtar while their three accomplices — Ramzan, Mukhtar and Najma managed to escape.
Police have registered a hudood case against the accused.
FRAUD CASE: Civil Line police on Thursday registered a fraud case against an ISI assistant director and his brother.
ISI’s assistant director (Gilgit) Shahzad Anjum and his brother Shoaib had purchased a car (Karachi-F-2899) from Ramzan of Sahiwal. They paid Rs5,000 in cash and gave a cheque of Rs50,000, vowing to clear soon the remaining amount. Later, the accused got the car transferred in their name without making the balance payment. Further, the bank also dishonoured their cheque.
Although police are investigating the matter, no arrest has son far been made.
VISIT: Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Tauqir Zia will visit the city on Sept 14 on the invitation of the Sahiwal District Cricket Board.
The PCB chairman will inspect Zafar Ali and Jinnah stadiums to work out the feasibility of holding international matches there.
This was disclosed by district board secretary Rana Sohail Asghar here on Friday.
