KARACHI: Two appeals by Udeshi allowed

KARACHI, Sept 9: An appellate bench of the High Court of Sindh (SHC), comprising Justices Wahid Bux Brohi and Muhammed Moosa K. Laghari, allowed two appeals filed by a former secretary for the Sindh Land Utilization Department, Ramesh M. Udeshi.

Judgment had been reserved earlier and announced on Tuesday by another bench, comprising Justices Ghulam Nabi Soomro and Mohammed Afzal Soomro.

The conviction and sentence of five years and a fine of Rs0.1 million awarded to the appellant by an accountability court at Karachi was set aside by the appellate bench.

The accused was sentenced in the year 2000 by the Accountability Court-I in Ehtesab reference 20/1997. — APP
