Zafar, Asif spin KCCA to victory

KARACHI, Sept 7: Spin duo of Muhammad Ali Zafar and Asif Hameed spin Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) to an innings and 42 runs victory over Quetta at Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Park Steel Town on Sunday.

Leg spinner Zafar captured five wickets for 31 runs in 22 overs and off-spinner Asif claimed three wickets for ten runs in 10.3 overs to spin out Quetta for 108 in their second innings.

Three-day match ended half an hour after lunch break on the final day.

Quetta which resumed at 33 without loss. Opening pair of Abdul Hameed and Waseem Qutub shared 42 runs but after their departure Quetta crumbled against Zafar and Asif.

Majeed once again topscored with 27 with five hits to the boundary. Waseem made 22 with four boundaries. Muhammad Akber was other batsman to reach double figure with 18.

Zafar finished with match haul of eight wickets for 86 runs.

This was KCCA’s second win in three games and they are placed second behind Sialkot with 18 points. Sialkot leading the pool with 27 points.

Top team from each pool will advance in the final.
