TOBA TEK SINGH, Sept 7: A teenaged girl was kidnapped and gang-raped on Saturday night by five vagabonds at Chak 755-GB near Pirmahal.

The girl was on her way towards fields when Ghulam Mustafa, Riaz, Umer Draz, Shababi Khan and Draz took her away forcibly to a deserted place outside the village and gang-raped her. Later, they escaped when the condition of the girl deteriorated. The girl was admitted to Pirmahal Hospital where doctors confirmed that she had been subjected to gang-rape.

An official of the Arrouti police said that all the accused were arrested and a case was registered against them on the complaint of victim’s father.

TAKEN AWAY: Six robbers snatched a truck loaded with export quality cloth worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from its driver on Saturday night on Kamalia-Chichawatni Road, some 40 kilometres from here.

The truck (4419-LSA), going to Karachi from Faisalabad, was intercepted by armed robbers near Khan Day Chak. They tied driver Abdul Jabbar and the conductor with a rope, threw them in a nearby field and escaped with the truck.

SUICIDE BID: A prisoner involved in a dacoity case attempted to commit suicide in the lock-up of Rajana police station on Saturday night.

Police said that accused Abdul Rehman Jat of Chak 295-GB, Barianwala, broke a water glass and seriously injured himself by piercing it in his abdomen. He was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.
