SIALKOT, Sept 7: Electoral banners of all but the PML-QA candidate have been removed from every where in Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsil by officials of Tehsil Municipal Administrations on the direction of the Sialkot district government.

Now giant electoral banners of only PML-Q candidate Arsal Waqar Ghuman, a close relative of Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, can be seen every where in the district. The election for the slot of Sialkot district Naib Nazim will be conducted on Monday (today).

Meanwhile, the ARD and MMA leaders have strongly condemned the Sialkot district government for removing banners of their candidates and the aspirants of other parties.

They termed the action of the Sialkot district government a flagrant violation of the electoral code of conduct of the Election Commission. They alleged that official resources were being used for the successful election of the PML-Q candidate.

They urged the Election Commission to ensure free, fair and transparent polling for the Sialkot district Naib Nazim’s slot.

Meanwhile, at least 2,458 voters will cast their votes on Monday for the election of Sialkot district Naib Nazim.

The seat was vacated about a year ago when the then district Naib Nazim, Ali Asjad Malhi, had been elected as MNA from NA-113 (Daska).

The number of voters in Sialkot tehsil is 1,038, in Daska tehsil 860 and in Pasrur tehsil 560. Three polling stations — one each in Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils have been established.
