NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Sept 7: About 300 people took out a procession and blocked the National Highway in Moro on Sunday to protest against the death of a boy, Sajid Malik, due to alleged negligence of doctors.
The protesters were led by Moro union council-1 Naib Nazim Anwar Kaimkhani and union council-3 Naib Nazim Malik Shabbir.
They held Dr Yousaf Nawal, in charge of a community centre and also posted at the Moro Taluka Hospital, and the laboratory assistant of the hospital, Mohammad Ameen, responsible for the death of Malik.
The protesters dispersed after the police assured them that an FIR would be registered in the matter.
Later, the Moro police registered a case under sections 302, 420, and 406, PPC, against Dr Nawal and Ameen.
Malik, 15, garage worker, had donated blood at the Police Community Centre last week and began vomiting blood later. He went to the Moro Taluka Hospital on Saturday for check-up but doctors on duty neither examined him nor referred him for blood tests.
He later went to a private laboratory where he was diagnosed with hepatitis-B.
The patient and his father contacted the Naib Nazim of union council-1, Moro, and it was decided that the in charge of the community centre would bear the expenses of Malik’s treatment.
Malik was taken to the Nawabshah Civil Hospital where he died on Saturday night.
