Hate speech at mosques

I OFFER Friday prayers in the nearby mosque of Country Club Apartments near Seaview (Phase V extension, DHA). I note with horror that the Imam preaches treason and sectarian hatred.

On Oct 24, he was preaching sectarian hatred against a minority Muslim sect and raising controversial issues which are of least importance in everyday life.

On Oct 17, he was praising Al Qaeda, Taliban and the Islamic State, saying that they deserve to be supported by every possible means.

During Ayub’s days, Friday sermons were first vetted by a government agency before they were delivered. That law must be revived.

I do not know how many such imams are spreading communal disharmony in mosques in the city and the province. Something needs to be done in this regard.

They exist all over the world. Their words of poison have sown seeds of self destruction for which all Muslims will pay a heavy price for years to come. People of reason must stand up and speak. We owe to our present and future generations. Naya or Puranas Pakistan, United we must stand.

@wellwisher , brother if you are really a wellwisher, it is never too late. Humanity has gone through worse situations but they have always come out stronger. Pakistan will rise and shed the despondency and negativity imported from across the borders. Just remember Pakistan is home to one of the best civilisations of the world, Indus Valley Civilisation. If its forefather can excel 6,000 years before the advent of Christ, what is there to stop the same gallant, enterprising inhabitants of the sacred land to prove to the world that they are endowed with inherent strengths to rewind and move on path to constructive glory.

@talib Are there no boundaries for freedom of expression. Your freedom ends where my nose starts.The question here should be 'Was the imam doing his duty to the mosque and it's people?' This is where the state should come in. A recent event in Jordan where a Imam has been banned from preaching in any mosque (and also arrested) for preaching hatred and asking for support for ISIL should be the harbinger of things to come for all religious places.
