KARACHI, Sept 5: Cargo handling activity at the wharves on Friday was maintained on the higher side as the total tonnage handled rose to 0.114m tons, according to KPT sources.

Out of the total export tonnage amounted to 15,521 tons including 1,345 tons chrome ore and import cargo 98,862 tons, mostly oils and fertilizer.

Berthing activity at the wharves was modest where four ships, Al-Ihsaa, India Star to unload and load containers, Puma to load general cargo and Mercs Komari to unload soyabean meal.

Five ships, Al-Ihsaa, Hyundai Stride, Puma, Sunset-K and Atlantic SOL departed on Friday, while India Star, Donax, Eax Sanctity and Wan-Hai 301 are due to sail out on Saturday.

The following ships are due on Saturday: Izumo and Med Keelung, with containers.
