ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: Under the World Trade Organization regime, only those countries will have access to global markets that comply with the international standards agreed upon by its member states.
This was stated by the Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) director-general, Rashid Khan, while speaking at a two-day workshop held on Monday.
The workshop was organized by the PNAC in collaboration with Unido to discuss issues related to ISO-17025 (laboratory) certification.
The PNAC director-general said unfortunately not a single laboratory in the country had ISO-17025 certification, which was the international standards for laboratory managements.
He said recognizing this global development, the council had launched accreditation services for testing and calibration of laboratories. The PNAC in collaboration with foreign and local consultants has also initiated specialized training courses in different cities, he added.
