Model Town case: FIR registered against Nawaz, Shahbaz and 19 others

LAHORE: A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against 21 persons, including the prime minister and Punjab chief minister, on Thursday on the the orders of the government.
The Punjab police received orders on Thursday to register an FIR against those responsible for the deaths of 11 Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) supporters in a violent clash with police.
Sections 419, 148, 234, 302 and 109 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, pertaining to murder, attempt of murder and terrorism, have been included in the FIR.

Earlier today, a four-member committee formed by the Punjab government has started work on the recommendations in the Model Town judicial commission report. The committee has been mandated to fix responsibility in relation to the bloodshed that transpired in clashes between police personnel and supporters of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.
The committee is expected to complete its proceedings in a week’s time and submit a report to the provincial government. It comprises of Justice (retd) Khalilur Rehman Ramday, the provincial interior and law secretaries and Punjab advocate general.
And after the findings that have emerged in the reports of the judicial commission and the joint investigation team, the government committee's fundamental task is to identify those ultimately for the Model Town tragedy.

Earlier, the Punjab government had requested the judicial commission for audio/visual evidence in relation to the tragedy.
The government commission begun its work days after the judicial commission investigating the Model Town incident held it responsible for the tragedy, saying the police had acted on the administration's orders which led to the bloodshed.
The report had said that the affidavits of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and former law minister Rana Sanaullah contained contradictions regarding the orders they reportedly issued to the police to disengage, and said what happened on the ground did not match such claims.
At least 11 PAT workers were killed and over 100 people were injured during the clash in Lahore.

What is the probability that a commission appointed by the culprit and having the people who are employees (under great influence) of the culprit to find anything against the culprit?

That is what is wrong with the type of democracy prevailing. Police has to wait to receive orders to create an FIR even though the Court had already given the instructions of the same. Police should be independent which cannot happen in the current sham of democracy

@Ahmad probability is almost NIL. However, masses memory is very short and so they forget that in numerous such inquiry reports the committee not only fixed the responsibility
but also recommended various steps including punishment to the culprits....but ...but sadly no action whatsoever is ever taken. Formation of inquiry committees seems to have become a fashion which is meant just for the sake of public consumption...not for any subsequent action or remedial measures. In the present case too there is no visible difference.

lol... This happen only in Pakistan where political parties head instruct the law enforcement agency to lodge FIR against them. Where our judicial system is free? where is the system first of all? the victims are not allowed to lodge FIR and then Court ask to Put FIR and still no one dare to lodge FIR against culprits? SHAME on the system and this is need to be fixed and IK is da man who is trying. We have tried everyone lets give him a chance and my heart says that he will be better the many many many in PAKISTAN History ...

Again and again a question remains why police register FIR when Shabaz and Nawaz approves it. Did not it shows the power of this mafia gang..... Why it was not registered when court order to register it. Nawaz and Shahbaz use their powers and show that they are the owner of police. No credit should be given to Nawaz or Shahbaz. They are the culprits and also must resign from posts. It take more then 40 days to register FIR then how come a comon people get justice until they shall be away from their power and GOVT. Wish at least judges now do their jobs for the sake of Pakistan and do not earn millions of dollars this time.

Why registration of FIR had to wait for months, and require the permission of higher-ups. Should't that be automatic.
If FIR requires permission from higher-ups, then those higher-ups must have given permission to police to kill also. The case is proven; hang the culprits.

This FIR crisis is reflective of our political parties' double standards. They can bring the country to a standstill for 11 of their members' deaths and turn a blind eye to the innocent thousands that die every year because of terrorism, drone strikes, targeted killings, sectarian violence etc. Such cheap blood we have!

Now all those accused in FIR need to step down until investigation is complete. This is how democracy works. If you let the accused stay in power then they may use their power to influence the results of investigation. Investigation should be complete and clear without any bias for both victim and accused.

Honestly, I was against this whole dharna stuff but the ore I saw how PML-N handled this FIR business, the more i realize why something really needs to be done!

The FIR has been registered with a restriction that no accused will be arrested, unless proved guilty. The people are not happy about who will prove that these accused are guilty? These accused should be released after they give a proof, they were innocent. The judge is also guilty of protecting the Sharif brothers and should be punished. .
