KARACHI, July 20: The Edhi Foundation has rescued around 400 people and another 100 are still stuck up in the hills of Shah Noorani, 200 kilometres northeast from here in Balochistan.

“We are making efforts to lift them with air-ambulance,” said Rizwan Edhi, a senior official of the Edhi Foundation.

Talking to APP here on Sunday after arrival, he said the heavy rains in this hilly area during the last two days hampered their rescue operation.

Half of the sandy passage to the shrine passes through some very difficult terrains which were inundated by the rains.

“Blockade of the passage also caused water and food shortages in the area,” said Rizwan.

He said a majority of the people rescued by his team belonged to Karachi and Badin district.

Rizwan appealed to the provincial authorities to dispatch bulldozers to clear the road as still dozens of people were stuck up there.
