KARACHI, July 17: Darkhawb, a collection of poetry by young poet Inam Nadeem, was launched by Scheherzad at the Arts Council, with Asad Mohammad Khan in the chair. Khan, himself a poet and fiction-writer, very different from his contemporaries, was the right person to introduce the young poet.

He admired Nadeem for adopting a fresh approach towards composing poetry, also picking his topics in a discerning way.

Prof Saher Ansari spoke about the individualism of the poet who looks into things in his own way, unmindful of what others see. He also admired the freshness in his poetry.

Most speakers agreed to the opinion that Inam Nadeem was a ghazal poet, who carefully followed the demands set by the masters.

Writer Rafaqat Hayat read out a paper on the poetry of the budding poet and saw a bright future for him.

Noted poets Anwer Shaoor and Khalid Moin also praised Inam Nadeem for his individual poetic taste. Naqqash Kazim, whose Adabi Committee was the co-host, pointed out that some natural and inborn talents in poetry emerge in a different way and establish their individuality earlier than others. Inam Nadeem was one such poet.

Aniq Ahmad did the compering and in his introductory remarks praised the young poet.—Hasan Abidi
