VEHARI: A 20-year-old girl, who was allegedly abducted and gang-raped on Tuesday night, died due to excessive bleeding at a quack’s clinic in Chak-188/EB.
According to victim’s mother, the four influential figures of the area barged into her house and took away her daughter at gunpoint to some unknown place where she was raped. When she fell unconscious they left her at a nearby quack’s clinic where she died because of excessive bleeding.
Quack Muqadas Bibi and the whole staff managed to escape when police reached the clinic.
Saddar police have registered a case against five accused, including quack Muqadas Bibi, under sections 376, 338-A, and 322 of the PPC on the report of victim’s brother.
The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at the DHQ Hospital on Wednesday.
Saddar SHO Chaudhry Rasheed told Dawn the girl had relations with the accused and she was admitted to a clinic for abortion where she died due to excessive bleeding.
An employee of the DHQ Hospital, who assisted the autopsy, said the initial report confirmed the rape.
He said the samples had also been sent to a laboratory in Lahore for the chemical examination.
Dr Naheed Malik, who conducted the autopsy, did not attend the phone.
However, no arrest was made till the filing of this report.

All Politicians who have daughters should think about it, and bring those animals infront of the nation and these animals should be punished by the nation and may be nation should chose to stone them.

We question the rule of law but what about questioning this form of reporting? The report tells us the name of the quack but fails to mention the name of the 'influential figures' even though they have been named in the FIR?
No points for guessing, the quack isn't as influential as the influential rapists so she gets named and the culprits don't.

This is really ridiculous, even no respect of Holly month of Ramadan. its also been mentioned that they took they girl for abortion while on the same doctors confirmed about rape which in contradicting. This all happens due to weak law enforcement condition in our country. Such cases should be dealt strictly.

Very Sad. As usual a statement to newspapers will be issued and ticker at TV will run "Khadim-E-Ala ne notice lay lia" and then every thing hushed up. The frequency of rape incidence show that limit of " notice lay lia" is over. please bring some serious reforms in police and judiciary so that people could access to justice and feel protected. you will get more vote while bringing the reforms rather doing "thana" politics. Oh, then you do need rigging in election as well.

The remedy for this is "vigilante justice." The newspaper should give the name of the rapists no matter who they are and whatever their position. Too many of these incidents are occurring and their daily reporting make one hesitate to read the news item. DAWN must throw the gambit by revealing the names of the influentials. Salams

To whoever wrote this report- putting the word raped in inverted commas makes your headline sound as if you're making a joke of the entire affair. It is misleading, and makes it biased, as if the reporter believes that rape is the less plausible account here. You could have easily used the term 'allegedly raped' instead. Secondly, you've lightly thrown in the name of the quack into the report, but deftly avoided mentioning the names of the 'influential figures'. So much for responsible reporting.

There seems to be some unwritten boldness amongst the rapists in both the countries of the sub-continent. Firstly it was in Delhi India, that saw general public go on the streets to condemn the mas rape by 5 people and also the supreme court pass judgement -hallmark of a judgement ina country where there are over 5 Million cases pending for over a decade and now in Pakistan too such rapes are becoming common place or are getting reported finally. It is time the Govt. in both countries came down heavily on such criminals and set an example by publicly hanging such culprits. If Amnesty wants human rights for these guys, let them answer the relatives of the poor girls who are effected!

What about the Jatoi brothers getting free with money after eye witnessed brutal murder of an innocent Shehzad. Is any one doing anything about it. Where is our chief ministers. Why he can not look into this matter and order the arrest of those people regardless of the merrits of the case as there is DNA proof of the rape toppled with death

After reading this news I feel a nausea of disgust. May Allah give Jannah to the victim who endured death with such a horrible crime in the most Holy Month of Ramazan. I pray that Allah either give Hidayat to the perpetrators or destroy them together with their progeny for this unforgivable heinous act.

Not One or Two, "FOUR INFLUENTAL FIGURES" did what they were born to use in a country like us "INFLUENCE" but the focal point of this whole episode is one daughter of the land lost her life and there was apathy, no public hue and cry, no raised voices against this heinous crime. I would end taking a heading of another article in dawn today, it is very true when the heading reads "We 're Dying from Apathy not Terrorism"

Do we not all know the number of rapes, many ending in death, happen EVERY day in Pakistan? This happens for ONE simple reason. The perpetrators know they will not be punished. They do not concern themselves with any other considerations - such as the punishment they can expect after death.

A crime of the most heinous nature, in the holy month of Ramadan. A society full of Muslims, mullahas, qadris, sharifs, IKs. It is just sickening. All male children must be taught how to respect women other then their own mother and sisters right from the beginning. Our mullahs, preachers and politicians must also take responsibility. Else, the severest form of punishment, no less than death penalty upon those convicted of such crimes.

" Raped"? Why is the word in quotation marks"? Is it to say that she was not really raped, or that she was maybe assaulted but not really raped? Or was it done to get more people to read the article since the heading had the word rape in it, eventhough all the facts of the case were not in ? Why use the word rape if you are not sure? It is insensitive and irresponsible. A girl was raped and bled to death. She was raped, not "raped".

A few of the commenters are suggesting Talibn's kind of Islamic law to protect the women from such murderous sex abuses. But it's more likely that most of the 51 commentators will prove to be hypocrite if the Taliban's Islamic law is imposed in the whole of Pakistan to deal with women's sex abuse issues. The truth is that only Tliban's kind of moral force can get rid of the sex abuse and wadera rules in Pakistan. Most of the the so called educated elites have no gutts to deal with these issues. They are infact very much busy watching the porno movies on the internet. So their sense of morals is very low in this regard.

If the employee of the clinic says it was a rape then there is enough prima facie evidence to start a criminal case. The SHO is obviously trying to protect the accused. The accused have not even been named.
Terrible state of affairs. Unless the media puts pressure the accused are going to get away. May the poor girl should rest in peace.
