KARACHI: Stage artist found dead

KARACHI, July 15: The body of a stage artist was recovered from his house in Gulshan-i-Iqbal late on Monday night by the police.

Neighbours informed the police about a stench emanating from a apartment in Al-Mubashir Apartments, Block 13-C of Gulshan. On this information, police reached the house, broke down its door, and recovered the body of Mirza Taufiq Baig, 35, which was partially decomposed.

Police said the body was trussed-up and the victim was strangulated with a telephone wire around his neck. A piece of cloth was found inserted in the victim’s mouth, while a pocket diary containing contact numbers of the stage artists was also found beside the body.

The body was shifted to JPMC for post-mortem examination.

Police were investigating the case, but could not come up with a clear motive behind the murder.

In another incident, the body of a young woman was found from the beach of Rehri Goth, Ibrahim Hydri on Tuesday.

Following the recovery, police said that the victim’s daughter identified the body as of Aysha, 40, at the JPMC.

She told the police that her mother had reportedly gone with another resident of the Goth, Husain, on Monday night.

Police said that the suspect Husain, has been absconding following the recovery of the body.
