KARACHI, July 15: The central joint secretary of the Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Iqbal Qureshi, was picked up the police shortly after his release from the Landhi Jail on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the MQM-H said that Mr Qureshi was released by the jail authorities on court orders. However, he said that Mr Qureshi had just come out of the Landhi Jail, when police mobiles of Landhi PS took him into custody. They shifted him to an undisclosed location, he added.

When his relatives contacted the Landhi police, they denied taking Mr Qureshi into custody and told them that he might have been detained by the Gulshan-i-Hadeed police, the party spokesman said.
