Army resolves to intensify air strikes against militants

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army on Wednesday decided to intensify air strikes on militant hideouts in the wake of recent attacks across the country.
The decision was taken by the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif during a meeting of the Formation Commanders at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
In the meeting it was also decided to track down terrorists and monitor their movements across the country. To dismantle terror networks, the army resolved to coordinate closely with intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
The half-yearly meeting was attended by all Corps Commanders and Formation Commanders, where comprehensive briefings on the security situation of the country as well as professional matters relating to the military came under discussion.
It also reviewed the goals achieved in North Waziristan and Tirah Valley.
The army chief said the sacrifices rendered by those in the war against terrorism would not be in vain. The participants were briefed on targets of recent air strikes. It was also decided that the Airport Security Force (ASF) would be trained by the military in order to counter future attacks.

Why do they publish these news? If military plans to launch an operation then keep it close to your chest and surprise the adversary. I wonder why these meetings as they should be in a situation room right now with PMas commander in chief directing the response....

Does the Pakistani government, Army and ISI still differentiate between good Taliban and Bad Taliban. This would be the result if they differentiate. I think Pakistani administration should behave responsibly and eliminate all terrorists irrespective of their ideology and stop using terrorism as foreign policy tool for strategic depth. Terrorists are like beasts if they feed them, one day they might feed on us. In the greater interests of humanity, the Pakistani government, ISI and Army should deal with all the terrorists with iron hand...

In any other country it will be the PM, of the current government with parliament in confidence, will resolve the action to be taken and not the Army. And certainly the Army chief wont decide the tactics of the Air Force.

First, you have to send back all these Afghan refugees who you do not need any more as their country is now independant, no war and if there is a war, thats their headache. All the political leadership in Afghanistan do not trust Pakistan and keep on playing blame game when ever an opportunity arises to attribute all wrongs to Pakistan. Why do you need to keep their people in your country.
Borders strict checking should be made. No coming no going from Pakistan. Stop influx of people. And start disarming public, and why do Army discloses its plan openly? They need to do their job without giving formal notices.

Why is the Army chief making these decisions? Isn't there a defense department in Pakistan? Decisions should be made by the defense department in consultation with the 3 branches of the armed forces of Pakistan and then the forces should be directed to carry out the decisions and directives in a manner to achieve the goals decisively. This pseudo democracy that we have in Pakistan is not workable. The elected government should take the initiative, swiftly, and embark on a clean up operation to get rid of the enemies of Pakistan and Pakistanis. Talibans have turned on their own and they should now be looked at as enemies.
