@Nitish Pakistan would have done what India should have done a long time age: given a hindu majority state (under it's control...lets say Gujarat or Rajasthan) to her other country. Even when the ruler of Junagarh signed a treaty with Pakistan, India went in and occupied the area on the basis of Hindu majority. Kashmir is the same for us!!!

The people of Kashmir in India need peace and prosperity for their families and a good future for their children. It was a newly appointed minister (of course a cabinet one) and I guess, the minister has been chastised already for speaking on the topic. Here is the clarification he gave: "I seek to clarify that the reports in the media about my statement on Article 370 are misquoted. I have never said anything quoting the Honourable Prime Minister" But it looks like its too late and he has already hurt sentiments on both sides of the border. Request the media houses to publish the entire news so that ppl can understand that statement like these dont always go down well with ALL the people from either sides. Also, although the history says otherwise, this time I hope the relationships improve. Being in Canada for 3 yrs now and seeing the kind of relationship they share with USA, I really envy them. Article 370 was a temporary provision for people of JK with a hope to take the state with the country. But unfortunately this article has become a hurdle for the development of the state. It is known to many educated people from JK also and they do not want it. But some politicians have been using it as a trump card and and playing their games. No good government will keep this provision and permanently neglect a region. By abrogating this article, big companies will start opening their offices there and local educated youths will get job opportunities. Most Indians know, Modi can clear this hurdle. Just like article 370 in India, some sections in PPC have done more damage to the nation. Can Pakistan also think of abrogating sections 295B, 295C, 298A, 298B and 298C of PPC?

I wish there was no partition of India. If congress wanted this could be avoided. Having once agreed to part away Muslim majority areas to be part of Pakistan, it was illegal and immoral on the part of India (after partition) to get accession of the state to India.It was for this guilt that India agreed to accept UNO resolution to plebiscite and there after special status.Had India been fair and just there would have been no problem between India and Pakistan and the wounds of partition would have been healed long time back and the two countries resources would not have been wasted on unnecessary defense. Invoking of clause 370 will result into bloodshed in Kashmir. Large billions class in India will buy every inch of Kashmir and Kasmiries will be worst than Palestinians.BJP does not have sufficient seats in parliament to change constitution, Modijee will press other parties to support BJP to revoke clause 370,if they don't agree, this will be issue for BJP to win next election. @Ajay vikram Singh I think enough has been said about individuals' feelings/beliefs/needs. Let me put a different perspective on the Kashmir issue. Two of Pakistan's five rivers, Ravi and Sutlej, originate from India and enter Punjab. There was a treaty b/w India and Pakistan limiting India from building too many dams as the rivers provided water needed for agricultural lands. That treaty has been violated for some time now. Sutlej is now called a dry river bed for obvious reasons, and Ravi gets water only when Indian side of Ravi threatens to flood and the dams cannot hold the water. Guess where the remaining three rivers in Pakistan originate from?... Like it or not, Pakistan simply CANNOT let go of Kashmir, not even to be a separate nation (I think). It is way too important for Pakistan to keep it, and I just listed one of the many reasons...

Wake up from you bed and wash you face and look at how you can bring Pakistan economically progressive. On your second point of Hindu nationalism, nope this is just nationalism at your best. As of you, try to see if you can help to retrieve the hindu school kids who were abducted by armed gunmen in Sindh today. (I wonder why someone needs armed gun men to abduct school kids. Wow what a country, and you are dreaming of winning Kashmir.

@Fazal Karim Please note that it is a foregone conclusion that article 370 will be abrogated, and no power in the world can stop this. India is for the Indians where anybody can live anywhere.

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was a temporary measure to govern relations between Indian Union and a state in it. As such what we do with Article 370 - modify it, abrogate it, rewrite it - is entirely an internal matter for India. No outsiders, especially Pakistan, should let themselves be concerned about it. Pakistan can continue to dispute the ownership of the state for all the good it has done it for the last 66 years and for any good it hopes it might do to it in future. A sane suggestion to Pakistan: clean up your internal mess first before you get into a scuffle with your neighour which you may not be able to survive, considering that old fogy relics from before Partition are gone and a new generation of Indians have taken charge.

Pakistan and India should keep away from Kashmir strictly as it has become a bone of contention between two neighbours. Let Kashmiris live their own lives in an independent Kashmir country. Both India and Pakistan should vigorously follow mutual commerce and trade and try to bring about a pleasant change in the lives of millions of people living below poverty line in their respective countries. Open up and let go, there is no other viable solution.

@azm exactly my point. Just calling Pakistan a separate nation does not make it a nation. For five thousand years this land, its people and its cultures are called India. Over centuries, different parts of this land have had multiple political entities or systems - Pakistani and Indian state are just another example of such entities - the nation is one and will remain so.

You will always have your share of your waters.We may have become separated and angry with each other but this land and its resources belong to all of us.

That's why Pakistan cannot grow...though there is no electricity no industry no road no rail...people are surrounded by terrorism and illeteracy ...they always think about the life of an Indian state...please look at your backyard...and work to make your country a living place...and stop thinking about life of Indian people.....

@hassan I would refer you to the case only a few days ago when a young woman was STONED to death outside the Lahore High Court in broad daylight (not in some backward Indian village) while a posse of Pakistani policemen allegedly looked on as witnesses !! The phrase "people who live in glass houses should not throw stones" comes to mind,do you not think?
