HYDERABAD, July 11: The water flow in the three barrages of Sindh and the off-taking canals continues to increase with the each passing day.

Wapda and irrigation department officials said the water flow upstream of the Guddu Barrage was recorded at 2,58,500 cusecs at 6.00am on Friday while the downstream flow was recorded at 2,31,000 cusecs.

The water flow at the Sukkur Barrage upstream was recorded at 2,31,000 cusecs whereas the downstream discharge was recorded at 1,86,000 cusecs.

The inflow at the Kotri Barrage upstream was recorded at 1,19,900 cusecs while the outflow downstream was recorded at 92,000 cusecs.

The Phulelli canal is carrying 5,530 cusecs, the New Phulelli canal 13,725 cusecs, the Akram Wah 1,930 cusecs and the KB Feeder 6,653 cusecs.

The water level at the Tarbela Dam has been recorded at 1,515.07 feet against the dead level of 1,367 feet.

At the Mangla reservoir, the water level has been recorded at 1,194 feet against the dead level of 1,040 feet.

At the Chashma reservoir the water level has been recorded at 646 feet against the dead level of 637 feet.

Due to the increasing flow of water, many a breaches have occurred in various water channels of Sindh.

The most vulnerable point in Hyderabad district is the Bhanote protective band which is being gradually eroded by the Indus river.

A large quantity of stones has been collected at the Bhanote Band to meet any eventuality.

FUNDS FOR SAU: The Higher Education Commission has released an amount of Rs2,15,82,900 to the Sindh Agriculture University for purchase of modern laboratory equipment to improve the standard of education and research.
