KARACHI, Dec 16: A young man died in mysterious circumstances in a hotel on Napier Road on Sunday.

The police said that Fayyaz Ahmed, aged 30, had arrived in the city a day earlier and was staying in Baloch Hotel on Napier Road.

On Sunday morning he was found dead in his room, said a duty officer at Napier police station.

“There was no apparent mark of injury on the body” he added.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for postmortem, where the report had been reserved till the receipt of histopathological and chemical reports.

ROAD ACCIDENT: An elderly woman died in a road accident in Liaquatabad on Sunday morning.

The police said that Aziza Begum, aged 70, was run over by an unidentified vehicle while walking across the main Liaquatabad road. The vehicle was travelling at high speed. The woman died on the spot. The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

INJURED: Police shot and wounded an alleged bandit during a robbery attempt in Nazimabad on Sunday.

The police said that three bandits raided a stationery shop at Gol Market in Nazimabad No 3, held those present there as hostage at gunpoint and collected Rs5,000.

As the bandits were escaping from the shop, a police party arrived there and opened fire on them. One of the bandits, identified as Pervaiz Mughal, aged 30, resident of Liaquatabad, was injured. His two accomplices, who could not be identified, escaped.

The injured bandit was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where he was referred to Civil Hospital where he was admitted.
