GILGIT, July 7: The Northern Areas Legislative Council on Monday demanded removal of the Balochistan government, saying it had failed to protect the lives and property of people.

The session, presided over by Speaker Sahib Khan, held a debate on the Quetta carnage.

The house unanimously passed a resolution moved by Deedar Ali and seconded by Qari Hafeezur Rehman, condemning the attack on a Quetta imambargah that had left some 53 innocent persons dead.

The members regretted that such incidents were taking place in the home province of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

Those who took part in the debate were Deedar Ali, Qari Hafeezur Rehman, Syed Jafar Shah, Mehbub Ali and Aga Mohammad Ali Shah.

The leader of the opposition, Syed Jafar Shah of the PPP, termed the incident unfortunate.
