ABBBOTTABAD, July 7: The Local Government Employees Federation, NWFP, has demanded framing of a service structure and service rules.

It said that after the new setup of local bodies was put in place, no clear policy was unveiled with regard to local government employees’ services, which had landed them in an uncertain situation.

A meeting of the GEF was held here on Saturday which was largely attended by the representatives of the local bodies unions from all over the NWFP, including some from Punjab also.

Shoukat Kiyani, provincial president of the federation, was in the chair.

The meeting noted no seniority list of employees was prepared. Promotion to the next cadre had been completely stopped.

It was pointed out that the duty time of operators had been increased from 12 to 16 hours with no extra benefits. In most of the cases, salaries and pensions were not paid to the employees of the local bodies staff in different parts of the NWFP.
