HYDERABAD, July 7: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has said efforts are being made to maintain law and order in the district.
He said this while presiding over a meeting at the Shahbaz Hall here on Monday. The meeting was called to adopt precautionary measures in the wake of the Quetta incident.
Representatives of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan, Anjuman-i-Haidri, Sindh Anjuman-i-Imamia, Ahl-i-Hadees, Ahl-i-Sunnah, Majlis-i-Tahaffuz-i-Khatam-i-Naboowat and members of the district religious committee attended the meeting and condemned the terrorist attack on an imambargah in Quetta. They also offered Fateha for the souls of the victims.
The meeting observed that the attack was a conspiracy to create religious disharmony in the country.
The Nazim said the district government would do its best to forge understanding among different sects.
Referring to complaints of participants about interruption in electricity, water and sewerage system, he said presence of representatives of civic agencies would be ensured at help line 15-Madadgar to meet any eventuality, specially during the rainy season.
Speaking at the meeting, DPO A. D. Khwaja called for constituting Mohalla and mosque committees for monitoring movement of miscreants. He said police pickets would also be set up at sensitive points and stressed the need for public participation in maintaining law and order.
DCO Mukhtar Ahmad Aziz, MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput, City Nazim Moinuddin Shaikh, Maulana Abdul Mateen, Qazi Zamir Ahmad, Haji Zahiruddin, Maulana Shabbir Ahmad Khan, Maulana Abdul Rasheed Awan, Maulana Nawaz Kabir, Maulana Qari Kamran Ahmad, Nizam Haidri, Khalid Qadri and Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahyoon also spoke on the occasion.
