MINGORA: The provincial government would construct 350 small dams to end power loadshedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan here on Sunday.

Addressing a public meeting in KhwazaKhela area in connection with campaign for by-election on provincial assembly seat, PK 86, he said that they were moving in the right direction. The PTI-led provincial government was achieving its goals steadily, he claimed.

Mr Khan said that they were delivering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa according to their party’s manifesto. “Though we are achieving our targets slowly yet I assure the residents of the province that the PTI government will perform better than other provincial governments at the end,” he added.

The PTI chief said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was producing more electricity in the country and there was a lot of potential for generating hydel power.

“We are working to construct 350 small dams in the province,” he said.

He added that after the construction of the dams the people of the province would not only get electricity on reasonable rates but they would also get rid of power loadshedding.

“We have made police free of politics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Mr Khan said and added that if the Sindh government did the same then there would be no robbery, targeted killing and other criminal activities in the province.

The PTI chief said that no minister, MNA and MPA would allow to misuse powers. “We will establish an independent accountability cell in Peshawar for making everyone accountable,” he said.

Mr Khan said that the cell would process all the cases, referred to it, without any discrimination, “I have come to know that some people in the previous government looted the funds meant for displaced people. Once the accountability cell is set up, this case will be also referred to it,” he added. Mr Khan said that they intended to recover the looted money from plunderers and distribute the same among the deserving people of district Swat.

The PTI chief said that they were planning to construct playgrounds at tehsil level from the next year. After establishing playgrounds at tehsil level, they had a plan to extend sports facilities to union council level in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.

Taking notice of the dilapidated condition of roads in the province, especially in Swat, Mr Khan said that provincial government might task Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority to repair roads in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if National Highway Authority could not deliver accordingly.

He said that religious and secular parties were united to defeat the PTI candidate in Swat by-election.

The people of Swat were aware of the real situation and they would defeat those political forces in the by-election, he added.

PTI candidate Dr Haider Ali Khan and lawmakers of the party also spoke on the occasion.
