KARACHI, July 7: Five ships carrying containers and sugar for Afghanistan are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was relatively slow owing to Sunday’s rain and as a result, bulk of the cargo handled was liquid. Out of the total of 49,835 tons, export cargo totalled only 410 tons and the import tonnage 49,425 tons, including 34,300 tons of oils.

No ship departed on Sunday, while Dream Luna, Bolan, Pearl of Jeddah, Izumo, Sibi and Kota Wangi are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Four ships, Ocean Luna, to unload and load containers, Fivos, Banglar Kakoli to offload general cargo and jute and Thia Matina to offload coal were berthed.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Arva Maersk, APL Venezuela, Sinar Bangka, Dubai to unload and load containers and Mercs Kandy to offload 3,850 tons of sugar for Afghanistan.
