KARACHI, July 6: A spokesman for office of accountant general, Sindh, has refuted the charges of the Karachi City District Government, regarding non-clearance of its bills.

Referring to news reports quoting the City Nazim, the A G office said on Saturday that documents pertaining to bills, submitted for clearance to it by the city government, were incomplete and ambiguous. The A G Office had been reminding the relevant officers of the city government from time to time, but, allegedly, no measures were taken to rectify the things and there was a complete negligence on the part of the city government, which caused delay in passing of the bills, the spokesman added.

He said that different officials, including the EDOs (education), who had admitted that they were not in possession of inspection certificate and delivery challan pertaining to bills in question, failed to do as they were advised at later stages.

It was further claimed that the delivery challan and inspection certificate, which were submitted on June 28, were also found incorrect, as the documents were not signed by the representative of the Industries department. The delivery challan was not signed by the supplier or recipient, while no evidence of signing of any contact between the district government and supplier, it was further maintained in the A G Sindh office clarification.
