PESHAWAR: At least 35 militants were killed Thursday as fighter jets targeted suspected insurgent hideouts in three different tehsils of the North Waziristan tribal region.

The bombardment comes a day after Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said a ceasefire can be negotiated upon if the army stopped targeting its members.

Official sources told that militant hideouts in Dattakhel, Shawan and Mir Ali were targeted.

Other military sources said that the militants involved in the Peshawar cinema blast and killing of an army officer in frontier region Peshawar two days ago were targeted in their hideouts situated in Khyber tribal region.

Improvised explosive device (IED) making factories and prepared explosives were also destroyed in the strikes.

According to security sources, scores of others were also injured in the airstrikes.

The first strike was launched on the hideout of Abu Sattar, killing him, followed by strikes on Uzbek, Turkmen and Tajik hideouts. The latter strike killed a Tajik commander.

Meanwhile, the fifth strike was launched on a TTP hideout, killing 15 militants whereas jets also pounded TTP commander Abdur Razzak’s hideout. In total, 35 suspected militants were killed.

However, the deaths of only 15 militants could be confirmed by official sources.

A security official in Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan, told AFP that jet fighters began pounding targets around 12:30 am, with the attack continuing for more than an hour.

A militant compound jointly used by insurgent groups was also destroyed in the airstrikes, the second official said.

Residents in the area said the Taliban compound caught fire after the attack, with flames visible through the night.

A resident in the area who requested anonymity told AFP some of the residents and their families were seen moving to safer places after the airstrikes.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif authorised the air strikes, a source in his office said.

“After restraining the army for three days, the prime minister himself authorised the strikes last night,” the government official said. “It was the only option to teach the Taliban a lesson.”

Sharif, who came to power last year promising to find a negotiated peace with the Taliban, has been trying to engage the militants in negotiations.

But talks broke down this week when a Taliban wing operating in the Mohmand tribal region said it had executed 23 soldiers in revenge for the killing of their fighters by the security forces.

North Waziristan is one of the seven regions in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) governed by tribal laws. An extremist insurgency led by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plagues the region and the area is known to be infested with militants, including those from Al Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.

The region, which lies along the Pak-Afghan border, also comes under attacks from US drones frequently which target militant hideouts in the area.

Zafi Feb 20, 2014 10:03am

Good job. Strike till there is not a single one of them left. For every innocent soul they hurt is a debt on us. We all will be held responsible on the day of judgement if we did not hit back hard. Army should open a bank account to collect funds for such strikes only. I'm sure they will get a response from Pakistanis all over the world that would match the spirit of 1965.

sattar rind Feb 20, 2014 10:06am

Pak Army Finish them once and for all. Now it should be completed. No space should be given to Taliban or any other terriorsts. Clean pakistan from these insets please

Good job. If the TTP won't budge, army doesn't need to budge as well. After all at least the army is defending the country, by following constitutional orders.

Hassan Feb 20, 2014 11:34am

Too little too late!

hassan Feb 20, 2014 11:37am

My feelings are with the people getting killed or martyred. Were is the backbone of our army?. The army are just doing the dirty job of the americans. Our government cant handle anything by themselves and just blame the whole thing on the people of fata. What a shame. Let the army bomb karachi too. Lots of real terrorism with definitely proof is going on. When will our people and army open their eyes.

Syed Feb 20, 2014 12:20pm

Yeh cheez!

Khan Laala Feb 20, 2014 12:22pm

I wish best of luck to Pak Army & air force and pray that they will soon eliminate all such elements not only from Waziristan but from the whole Pak Sar Zameen. I must also emphasize & hope that attacks over terrorists must be precise with lesser or no civilian casualties that is why I feel Drones are more lethal and precise spot on Targets teasing the terrorists.

Let us put all are efforts together and find a solution for this nightmare. WAR IS NEVER BEEN THE SOLUTION TO ANY PROBLEM. AFTER BLOOD BATH WE WILL BE ON NEGOTIATION TABLE...

ZR Feb 20, 2014 01:08pm

@mark: What is wrong with Drones is someone else coming to your house and doing as he pleases. You have complete right to do what ever you want within your house to bring it in order. PAF bombing and Drones may achieve the same purpose but the consequence are very different. This is OUR WAR now!

Ravi Feb 20, 2014 01:08pm

Don't get excited ppl, on Dawn site, right next to this headline, another news item was shown with similar headline dated to January. So military carried similar operations before, so question is whether this is going to cleanup completely or if it is just like the one in January.

pakone Feb 20, 2014 01:14pm

Finally! Show these butchers no mercy! Pound away!!

Mahesh Feb 20, 2014 01:14pm

Who will bomb people like Maulana Abdul Aziz who openly support these terrorist guys?

eager beaver Feb 20, 2014 01:15pm

Good job PAF. Hit them hard. These takfiris deserve no mercy.

However, it is important to ensure that not a single person leave North Waziristan. Cordon off the area. Set up IDP camps at some safer location. Keep thumb prints of all the IDPs and match it with NADRA's record.

Don't let refugees go to the settled areas of Pakistan. Provide every possible help to the noncombatant within North Waziristan. If they are allowed to move to other parts of KPK or the country, this will result in spill over of terrorism in those areas as well.

Keep pounding them PAF. This is very important to strike terror in the heart of enemy of Islam and Pakistan.

akbar Feb 20, 2014 01:19pm

forces of darkness shall be crashes once for all...only air strike is not enough, a wipe out operation is the need of the hour... no dialogue is possible with people who are living in the middle ages and want to impose tribal barbarism on the civilized populace.

sam Feb 20, 2014 01:42pm

Go PAK Air Force. TTP can only attack unarmed people in mosques or attack a check post with a ration of 70 to 1. If TTP were true fighters, they would be like the Taliban of Afghanistan who go after the US Army. TTP are ugly cowards who dont have the guts to go after strong targets. The threaten the Kailash people, what a huge act of bravery!!

Iqbal Feb 20, 2014 01:43pm

There can be no comparision between Talibans and Bengalis. Bengalis were oppressed and were deprieved were their fundamental rights, whereas, Talibans are ignorant, barbarians, and bent on imposing on others their distorted version of Islam. They have no tolerance for others. They should be dealt with harshly and the government should not yield to their unjust, unfair, and ridiculous demands.

@Khanm: there is already bloodshed even when we didnot start a war so better start it ot elit would be too late , they only understand the words of bullets and bombs

Tit for tat... for every innocent person that dies because of the Talibans, the govt should go back and avenge by eliminating at least 10 Taliban terrorists everytime.

Let the Taliban know that enough is enough and PEACE in this world is the only solution.

athar Feb 20, 2014 02:01pm

well done airforce and Pak Army for destruction of hideout of anti Pakistan Taliban. Destruction of remaining hideouts is still awaited which may be expedited on war footing. enough is enough.

But please do not force me if I do not want. They do not have brains to understand this simple logic. You can negotiate with them for ever. In the meantime our nation is held to ransom by a relatively small number of very determined, very misguided and brain washed fanatics.

Asif Feb 20, 2014 02:44pm

Its very surprising to see that out military only reacts when they own men are dead. Its seems like they only fight for Army rather people of Pakistan.

Fiza Feb 20, 2014 02:45pm

Just an observation: When you report things like "The bombardment comes a day after Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) said a ceasefire can be negotiated upon if the army stopped targeting its members." you might also want to add things like "the bombardment comes a few days after FC personnel are butchered while in the custody of the Taliban during peace talks"

Without clearly stating it, you've shifted the axis of the article/news in a direction that almost makes it seem like the Taliban actually wanted to have a ceasefire but this bombing might be the reason that it will not happen now.

El Cid Feb 20, 2014 02:46pm

@observer: "This will surely make Imran Khan very upset"

This crime makes anyone who thinks rationally logically sanely more than just "very upset".

Fahad Merchant Feb 20, 2014 02:48pm

@Khanm: WAR IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO KILL THOSE BARBARIANS. You don't negotiate with terrortists, you just kill them or they kill you. Taliban have been killing innocent people of Pakistan - MY PEOPLE, YOUR PEOPLE, OUR PEOPLE!! They are literally disgrace to humanity.

SaeedS Feb 20, 2014 02:54pm

Why Pakistan police or army is so weak that they cannot go to these area . Why they need jets to bombarded in there own country. I am still surprised someone kidnapped 23 armed solider from there own territory . These question should be answered by top authorities .

Its sad to see how naive all of us are. How those jets can differentiate that its the terrorists they are hitting and Allah help us I don't know how many innocent man women children are dead and the deadly cycle continues

Asad Feb 20, 2014 03:13pm

for the people who say war is not a solution let me remind them that you all have seen the state of negotiation they cannot be resolved in any circumstances. Army personals who are fighting are the ones who deserve more honor and respect and let me clarify the honor starts when you start writing SHAHEED rather than killed. They have families too mothers, wives, daughters so let me be straight it's the people of Pakistan who when openly honor the Military personal will not only strengthen them but increase the moral. Aggression is the only way to root them out and by collaboration of Air Force and Army the fire power and deterrence would create havoc in the minds of TTP. There are repercussion of it but let me tell u the army personal are shedding their blood more than anyone has imagined so at least pay respect to them ,support them and motivate them. They are fighting for the nation, for the Green flag with full heart....

Nasser Feb 20, 2014 03:14pm

Big deal!

I do not think the Pakistan armed forces are competent enough, given the vast infiltration of Taliban ideology within their own ranks, to be able to even substantially harm the terrorists. There is no evidence of how many and who have been killed. For all we know many could have been civilians.

The government is corrupt and inept and nobody in the country seems willing to act and go for an all-out war to annihilate the Taliban, once and for all. There are just lone voices of MQM and PPP who at least speak up against the Taliban.

Shah Feb 20, 2014 03:14pm

Served them right. The only solution to this problem is by "FORCE" and not through non-productive negotiations and dialogues etc.(A typical political delaying tactics). Air strikes is a direct message from Joint Services/Pak Army to the Government/political leaders that Army now means business.Talks means that we've accepted the Talibans as a force and they are at par with us. How can they be at par when they've declared War on us and they don't accept the existance of Pakistan. "Shabash" Army and Air Force for taking this bold initiative taken after a while. Nation was and always be with you. May Allah Almighty protect our Armymen- Ameen

V. C. Bhutani Feb 20, 2014 03:30pm

How is this different from US drone strikes against terrorists holed up in safe havens inside Pakistan? To my way of thinking, the only difference is that this is Pakistani action and drone strikes were US action. The objective of both was the same. It is hopeless to expect that such strikes by Pakistani aircraft shall not hurt some civilians in every strike. It is well known that terrorists, endearingly described as militants, hide among civilian populated areas to make it difficult for security forces to go after them. Earlier it was US drone strikes that were doing the dirty work for Pakistan. Now it is Pakistan itself which is going after its terrorists. Only it is too late in the day to produce lasting results. Terrorists, by whatever name called, shall go on hurting civilians and security personnel as heretofore. V. C. Bhutani, Edinburgh, 20 Feb 2014, 1030 GMT

"There is no need to cheer the death and destruction."

True. But when one party in the name of one particular brand of Islam has killed and keeps blowing thousands of innocent men, women and children. Thousand of children are without their fathers, mothers, numerous parents have lost their children. If a state is to survive, it owes to it's citizen to wipe out those who not only commit these barbaric acts but are proud of their acts.

Im so glad that the air strikes killed the killers. BIG BIG THANKS TO NAWAZ GOVT AND TO PAISTAN ARMY. I am really shocked to see there are people questioning the rationale behind the operation against the militants. When Nawaz Govt was having peace talks everyone was against now Nawaz has done a good thing by authorising air strikes so people are posing aginst it. whats wrong with you. be on one side. and to these people I want to say that don't try to flow against the feelings of masses. we want these militants killed - nothing less than that. Once again THANKS TO NAWAZ GOVT & PAISTAN ARMY.

@saleem: "Pak Army capable of turning TTP into smoke in no time...once the patience is over, they will vanish like in other places......Carpet Bombing is the only solution of Tehrike Qasaban-e Pakistan"

You have no concept of 'carpet bombing" or of its purpose. But your lack of heart, soul, and mind comes through loud and clear. You think others have not tried what you suggest? They were ground to dust under Muslim heels, left their bones bleaching under Taliban Sun.

Further, should I, or some one with my training and ability, make decisions for the Taliban Warrior, it would be UnPak Mercenaries who would go up in smoke or lay down their weapons in abject surrender as they did in 1971.

The British, the Soviets, and the Amerikans have turned tail before Allah's Ghazi Warriors. UnPaks will run too, with their tails between their mangy legs.

Your cities and homes will be dust and will be taught a lesson never again to call out for the dogs of war.

Now what is the point in opposing Drones, which is more precise and as such has less collateral damage.

S Rizvi Feb 20, 2014 06:44pm

ZAFAR J KAZMI Feb 20, 2014 06:49pm

@Arup Saha: Terrorists against India need not being dealt with as they all habitate the Indian Parliament and are self sufficient against each other when they have time left from annihilating their own separatists

Agha Ata Feb 20, 2014 07:23pm

It seems to be a limited action teaching a lesson to Taliban. This jets attack would slow down Taliban a little, and pacify the public, but it won't clear the cancer. Next attack, not very far in future, would start the music again. Taliban in FATA need to be flushed out completely, and Taliban within the country should be chased seriously.

Khalid Baloch Feb 20, 2014 07:36pm

@Karachi Wala: I agree, there is no cheering for death and destruction. No one can kill Muslims in the name of Islam. Living in US for the last 30 years

Khanm Feb 20, 2014 07:38pm

For those in favor of war. Let me ask you all one thing what is the basic meaning of Islam peace. In this process of war in the cross fire we kill the innocent civilians. Then what is the difference between Taliban and us. Give peace a chance.

Raghav Feb 20, 2014 07:48pm

Good job. Now the operations should not stop till TTP is finished. Thereafter, intensive ope rations need to be continued to finish terrorism from this region forever, US,Afghanistan,Pakistan, and India can work together on this project to bring lasting peace.

Ammar Feb 20, 2014 07:49pm

US wont let its its exit strategy be jeopardised, relics of the Russo-Afghan war are going to be re-employed against the PAF. You read it fer the first time here.

Mohammad Waseem Feb 20, 2014 08:20pm

Allaho Akbar This is real Jihad. To get rid of the Fitna, to get rid of the criminal and imposters who are killing our women and children and innocent people in the name of Islam. Pakistan Zinda Bad Pakistan Army Zinda Bad

Syed Nasiruddin peerzada Feb 20, 2014 08:29pm

Right decision.

Shahpur Feb 20, 2014 08:32pm

I hope Pakistan continue the elimination of these animals. You can not finish them in few air raids.

S@ Feb 20, 2014 08:55pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: dear we as Pakistani nation and resident of the Peshawar . Dont care what they do but we are ready for every thing and we stand with our Army if time comes we all Peshawar people with fight against them and does not matter we live or die . But we are proud .

Saad Feb 20, 2014 08:59pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: Treatment of cancer does hurt but that doesn't stop us from getting it removed does it? Too afraid to live and too scared to die; what a sad way to exist! So we are ready.

Dilliwala Feb 20, 2014 09:17pm

So is Pakistan now going to withdraw support from terrorist groups operating in other countries, or will it continue to fund and train Jihadis there, while it fights TTP at home?

Bill Gates Feb 20, 2014 09:21pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: We will Fight. That's the only way we can get rid of these uneducated PRICKS

Iqbal Feb 20, 2014 09:28pm

We, the people of Pakistan, stand firmly behind you Pakistan Army and Prime Minister sahab. Please don't stop until you've destroyed each and every one of them. Let's make this right once and for all. Let's teach them a lesson so strong, they'll never think about messing with us again. Ever.

someone Feb 20, 2014 09:37pm

I would say shame to those Pakistanis who support these carpet and blind bombing of the rural areas. If it was done by a US drone, these same Pakistanis would have been jumping in rage and singing sovereignty song but since this is done by the PAF, no one would question how many of those killed were poor rural people. While drones are target specific and with minimum collateral damage, these bombing by PAF is just a blind drop of bomb with maximum collateral damage.

someone Feb 20, 2014 09:39pm

If someone come to think of it, Pakistani army is scared of these TTP guys. They resorted for aerial bombing instead of fighting like a man to the TTP. I wonder if TTP gets its hand on stingers, would then PAF dare to go to these area?

pathanoo Feb 20, 2014 09:56pm

@V. C. Bhutani: Love to see the Paki apologists of TTP/Taliban answer your simple yet brilliant question, V.C.

Ahmer Feb 20, 2014 09:58pm

These beasts might have been good at fighting with swords but will run with their tails between their legs like Maulana Abdul Aziz had tried once bombs start raining from the sky.

Shahid Feb 20, 2014 10:08pm

The "Muslim Extremists" should not be used for such people, a person has to be Humane first before he can call himself a Muslim. Media should change the term for such people as they are exploiting it to their advantage.

Tariq Feb 20, 2014 10:11pm

Well done Pakistan's armed forces! Please don't stop with just one or two sorties but go all out to finish the job good and proper get rid of the miscreants and their follower.

GA Feb 20, 2014 10:16pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: The same thing that's been happening when TTP is not taking revenge - killing of innocent people by TTP goons.

Shahid Feb 20, 2014 10:20pm

@Nasser: Shame, shame

Atif Feb 20, 2014 10:26pm

@El Cid Seems, in you, we have a TTP terrorist commenting here.

How do you "rationally, logically and sanely" defend relentless bombing of Pakistani children, (school going or even younger), Masjids, market places and even funerals?

Shahid Feb 20, 2014 10:27pm

@El Cid: Shame, shame on you

MAlvi Feb 20, 2014 10:27pm

Pakistan army and government are acting right. Now is the time to get US help. US will be willing to give some smart bombs to Pakistan now, and also help in locating targets.

Abid Mahmud Ansari. Feb 20, 2014 10:36pm

Its better late than never! Strike these thugs with full might, let them realize the immense power our armed forces have at their disposal. Continue to hit and strike them in a sustained manner till they are all eliminated completely for ever.

Abid Mahmud Ansari. Feb 20, 2014 10:40pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: TTP will think of revenge only if any one of them survives the fury of our armed forces.

sammy Feb 20, 2014 10:42pm

It was one of the cowardly act by TTP to beheading 23 soldiers,Pakistan have no other choice other then dealing with stern hands, before it gets ugly. You go Sharif.

YBA Feb 20, 2014 10:52pm

@V. C. Bhutani: You are completely correct. Except by taking action by themselves, the paki government is not sowing hate for the US into the heart of millions of people of this country. A better solution has always been pak controlled drone strikes.

Jay Feb 20, 2014 11:10pm

Not to be pessimistic. If we add up the counts given by Dawn on the number of talibans killed in army/air force action in the last 2 years - there shouldn't be any single militant left out in the world.

Either the numbers are exaggerated or there are more militants out there than anyone can imagine.

so confused!!!!

True Pakistani Feb 20, 2014 11:20pm

Pak soldiiers should crush these terror elements in North Rangers and police commandos should crush them in karachi hideouts Pak citizens are in full support of army and rangers. We waited too long (7 months) for this ... Now its the time to .... PAKISTAN ZINDABAD

Akbar Feb 20, 2014 11:43pm

That's like a Brave sons of Pakistan. Kill these butchers.

Akbar Feb 20, 2014 11:49pm

Today, some butchers (militants) will go to hell. Peace shall prevail Some mothers will have a sigh of relief. Some sisters and wives will wipe tears off their faces, and some sons will have a hope of seeing their father return home safely. Zinda baad Pakistan Army...Kill them, Kill them, please Kill them. So that, no one in future tries to do what these Militants are doing. Strike Fear in their heart.

Sajjad Khan Feb 20, 2014 11:59pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: Let them do it and the response would be even more bombingsof their hideouts.

Sajjad Khan Feb 21, 2014 12:01am

@Riaz: Educated and peaceful Taliban do have a place but not these illiterates and murderers

Dr. Saleem Khan Shah Feb 21, 2014 12:32am

what goes around comes around. Taliban got a taste of their own medicine finally! Please proceed and eliminate this cancer from our society and this world!!

Yasmin Elahi Feb 21, 2014 12:49am

@Chanpeer: Which peace talks are you talking about? The ones which have escalated the activities of the terrorists all over Pakistan?

mike ghaous Feb 21, 2014 01:09am

Finally Pak Army & administration is doing what they need to do. God bless Pakistan.

Khalid Feb 21, 2014 01:36am

"Salute you PAF" 35 "Less scum"

hanifamile Feb 21, 2014 01:42am

Good move, may Allah give success to Pakistan Armay in this Mission. Ameen.

ZAFAR J KAZMI Feb 21, 2014 02:21am

Chaudhury Nisar is some phenomenon to watch unfold. He has tremendous capacity to refute himself within his same one statement. It shall take very fertile imagination to be able to see what he really wants in respect to the military operation against Taliban. While he says peace is not possible with the terrorists in the light pf their own behavior, he at the same asserts that peace negotiations are likley with the faction of Taliban that wants negotiations. Can anyone see where this fellow stands.

independentthinker Feb 21, 2014 02:21am

@Chanpeer: Maybe if someone related to you became a casualty - you will come to understand that you cannot negotiate with sick minds. They need to be "eliminated" and I wish our military much success in their mission!

independentthinker Feb 21, 2014 02:22am

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: They should be crushed so badly - that they are not left capable of taking any revenge!

Sarah Feb 21, 2014 02:25am

Bhaag TTP Commanders Bhaag,Pakistani jets are chasing you now. No talks needed ,eliminate and finish them completely!

naghman qureshi Feb 21, 2014 02:27am

@Concerned Karachiite: religion has no place in politics.,like in bangladesh

independentthinker Feb 21, 2014 02:28am

@V. C. Bhutani: So, I guess it is too late - accept our defeat and let them take over and bring their sick interpretation of "Sharia" laws. Obviously, if we don't attack them, we will not be by accident, killing some civilians. However, they could continue with their mass killings and torture. Is that what I am supposed to interpret from your comments? Yes, there will be some casualties - but if we can eliminate this sick group from Pakistan, any sacrifice would be worth it!

Rizwan Feb 21, 2014 02:34am

Finally the Taliban is being spoken to in a language which they can understand.....if you get my drift

Aysha Feb 21, 2014 02:46am

@El Cid: OMG, There are talibans (like you)who can write/read english??? Thats scary

Seattle Feb 21, 2014 02:50am

I Don't think it is a good idea to use conventional armed forces to fight against own countrymen. If required Govt should think of forming a special force call it Reserve Police or Special Police or something else and use it to fight. Using conventional army will have bad effect in the long term in citizen's point of view who are from the effected region. Use same people , same machines but name it differently.

Hasan Feb 21, 2014 03:04am

@Fiza: I agree with you, I thought the same when I read this statement. Our media has to learn to report responsibly. This is no time to create confusion and to sensationalize things. The entire country needs to be united behind our brave armed forces as they root this evil out of our society. We all need to support them as they are putting their lives in harms way to ensure our safety.

Karach Wala Feb 21, 2014 03:05am

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express:

"What will happen ??? if TTP will take this revenge??"

Hopefull they will not be able to or else, all TTP representives will be sent to hold a peace talks with Mr. Nerinder Modi directly.

lubna Feb 21, 2014 03:10am

funny thing is that all the war hardened ttp commanders are so foolish that they were sitting in their homes without suspecting that pakistan army is going to retaliate and will strike them with F16s Why govt is making us fool or fooling themselves

shaukat Feb 21, 2014 03:33am

chanpeer instead of peace talks we will offer your life to them so they behead you or shoot you in the head, for the rest of us, slaughter and bomb as many ttp people as you can please Pakistan Forces. there should be a prize for confirming a dead ttp member, eradicate this group of people from this earth, they are not humans, they are vicious rabid animals. and any body who has a slight soft spot for them is just like them.

Rizwan Feb 21, 2014 05:28am

This is the best decision and action taken by the government. This will show the terrorist that the government is not weak. Government did
its best to continue talk and negotiation however, the other side was continuously aggressive with their killing every day of people and law enforcement and army soldiers. Pak army should strike on them full fledged and should destroy them for ever.

Amir Feb 21, 2014 05:29am

We need a big push not a sporadic action. Let us take them down at once before they can group together and kill our people our Pakistanis.

Dave Feb 21, 2014 05:39am

great job Pakistan Army and after reading some comments, glad to know that 90% Pakistani are in favor of these strikes, i use to think that may be general people and govt. provide some kind of support to these terrorist, but strikes and comments below shows that, no one in pakistan like and support these killers except some stupid person like hamid gul, imran khan etc., but this is for sure, these terrorist are no good at all for any one in this world, let them die worst death possible, bcoz now God is paying them back for what they gave to innocent people of this world by the name of God. Keep going Pakistan.

Rahul Feb 21, 2014 07:31am

Good job Pakistan!! (Y)

Ajay Feb 21, 2014 07:37am

hello my friends. I am from in India. I always feel so bad hearing almost on daily basis about TTP killing innocent people. But today i am happy that state of pakistan has finally woken up.Pakistan should flush them out of this continent for the sake of their people. God BLESS!!!!

Ahmer Feb 21, 2014 07:42am

These beasts deserve no better.

Ajay Feb 21, 2014 07:42am

hello my friends. I am from in India. I always feel so bad hearing almost on daily basis about TTP killing innocent people. But today i am happy that state of pakistan has finally woken up.Pakistan should flush them out of this continent for the sake of their people. God BLESS!!!!

Khan Feb 21, 2014 07:45am

Every one is glorifying army for their recent action in Waziristan and as a Pakistani I really do want to support them but violence always follows by more violence. Its really easy for some one sitting in their comfortable room writing brainless comments. Has any one got a slightest idea how many innocent men, women and kids has died in these bombardments ? I know because I have witnessed the operation in Swat.I'd love to see these Taliban creeps dies in their own filthy crap but please understand that such military operations could also exploit people to hate on Pak Army. Lets say for instance if any innocent person loses his entire family in army operation, whom would he turn to ?

GM Feb 21, 2014 07:47am

For the first time after so many years, i smiled. Keep going till every innocent person's blood is avenged.

imtiaz faruqui Feb 21, 2014 08:38am

Do not stop PAF, eridicate the enemies of Pakistan , the whole nation is with you.

sri1 Feb 21, 2014 09:48am

@ZAFAR J KAZMI: It is very welcome to see such sentiments after this poison of extremism has started claiming so many of your fellow citizens. Alas, had such angst and protests been earlier for the right cause when people were being killed across the border (granted that there were injustices and homegrown resistance there) maybe your nation would not be seeing those bleak days.

sudhi Feb 21, 2014 12:11pm

If this thing has been done in the past, the American drone attacks would have been avoided to a large extent.

Khanmh Feb 21, 2014 01:21pm

My sincere advice to my beleaguered nation....One cannot make the right decision, if we are going through the tremendous phase of frustration, hopelessness, depression and regression, pain and agony. The war we are at is the war of is better that we fight it in our minds and hearts not in the field.. It is a war of imposing the ideology of one on to the other. The mighty countries in world have failed and been defeated for imposing their views.. Americans have put in all their resources in the elimination of Al Qaida and Taliban. Did they succeed? Be Realistic we have neither the money not the technologies to do these jobs...we should have a different approach. We have to think out side the box. If we doing exactly the same as what they are doing on to us. Folks.... Then we are just like them...

Lalat Feb 21, 2014 03:00pm

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: It is better to die once than to live in fear all your life.

Roxana R Feb 21, 2014 03:19pm

@Kashif: I think you are correct. I think this initiative needs to go all-out and relentless until the Taliban are gone, period.

Roxana R Feb 21, 2014 03:30pm

@Khanm: Taliban declared war on Pakistan in 2007. Where have you been?

MuttaDhuluk Feb 21, 2014 08:42pm

You are going to wake up a sleeping giant, the Taliban.

Khazina Sultan Feb 21, 2014 09:42pm

The PMLN Government has taken the bold decision of standing with the forces! This is the first-ever time in this 12 year war when the civilian government and its military department are on the same page, unlike past when either the military was ruling on everything (General Musharraf's regime) or when the civilian government was totally secluded during Zardari's regime.

It is possible that the war will now meet its logical end very soon under the leadership of PMLN and the rebellion will be crushed forever InshaAllah.

Long Live Pakistan!

Rose Feb 22, 2014 12:09am

@Khalid Baloch: I 100% agreed with you. we as Muslim feel more safe, secure and freedom of our religious practices in US than our own country. We feel ashamed to call ourselves Muslim because of bad reputation in the world left by these animal terrorist. They are not even human being, and they call them Muslims.

Rose Feb 22, 2014 12:19am

@khanm: Khanm, could not you see the biggest achievement of PPP, they were on the top in corruption and getting bribes by selling jobs from poor people. They were most busy party in the history. you should recognize it. lol

Faruq Feb 22, 2014 06:16am

@Mumbai-Nagpur Express: If they take revenge, we'll wipe them out.

Iqbal Aziz Feb 22, 2014 10:12am

but still the hisab of our 23 young boys of FC is not over, we should at least hit more targets to salute and to pay homage to our brave young men so these animals can learnt a good lesson

Shah Feb 22, 2014 11:56am

@Khanm: Nation has given enough chance for peace and achieved nothing except killing of innocent people of Pakistan.

Shah Feb 22, 2014 12:02pm

Shah Feb 22, 2014 01:06pm

@Mahesh: Have you forgot Musharaf who is still facing judiciary for taking action action against Maulana Abdul Aziz. Our great politicians betrayed him to save their skin and start supporting such militants.

Danish Feb 22, 2014 02:51pm

Bravo PAF ........... but 35 vs. 70,000 innocent civilians is no comparison, dispatch to hell least 100,000 monsters.

El Cid Feb 22, 2014 05:43pm

@Shahid: "@El Cid: Shame, shame on you"

Telling as it is, telling the truth, facts on the ground...nothing to be ashamed about. Truth stands tall, unashamed even if alone, as I do.

Shah Feb 22, 2014 05:45pm

Kill all the TTP terrorists. Do not take any prisoners. Clean the area. AND seal the Pak-Af border once and for all. Nothing should be allowed to enter or exit. Pak Army Zindabad!

Muhammed Ali Feb 22, 2014 07:40pm

Good! Dont leave a single one alive we are with you Pakistan Army Zindabad

choag Feb 23, 2014 06:42am

@Roxana R: true but do the politicans and the soldiers on the ground have the will

El Cid Feb 23, 2014 10:46am

A military that turns its guns and jets on its own people is criminal. It and the nation is doomed, what little is left of it.

El Cid Feb 23, 2014 10:52am

@Shahid: I am just fine. Shame is on those who bomb the unarmed poor peasants and their family.

El Cid Feb 23, 2014 12:00pm

@Khalid: "Salute you PAF"

Yep, specially at Sallal, Abbottabad, LoC.

El Cid Feb 23, 2014 01:16pm

You all: Don't applaud the murder, the slaughter of innocents, asking for more. The bombs, death, and destruction that you send on them, they are but harbingers...that which you desire for them, their cries ring true the Bell in High Heaven...

Hark! Listen, the Descending Angels, they Toll it for thee...
