DOHA: Pakistan women’s team outclassed their South African counterparts by seven wickets in the PCB Qatar Women’s T20 Tri-series final at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium here on Friday.

Chasing a modest 69 for victory, Pakistan women openers Javeria Khan (38 off 46 balls) and Nain Abidi (four) gave their side a positive start of 27 runs off five overs. Bismah Maroof (14 not out off 24) and Nahida Khan (2 not out) helped Pakistan reach the target for the loss three wickets with 3.5 overs to spare. Nida Dar, batting at number three, made 11.

Earlier, sent in to bat first by Pakistan captain Sana Mir, South African women posted a meagre 68-9 in the allotted 20 overs.

Except for Marizanne Kapp (40 off 48 balls) who batted at number four spot, no South African batswoman even reached double figures. Asmavia Iqbal (2-14), Sania Khan (2-16) and Nida Dar (1-15) were among the wicket-takers as four South African players were run out.—Agencies
