KARACHI, June 23: Zone-I Whites lifted the KCCA Inter-zonal under-15 cricket title with an impressive six-wicket victory over Zone-V Whites in the final at TMC Ground on Sunday.
Zone-V Whites, batting first, were restricted to 179 for nine in 50 overs with Ammad Rafiq top-scoring with 49, which included six boundaries.
Leg-spinner Ahmed Iqbal bowled splendidly to capture five for 37 in 17 overs. Off-spinner Tabish Nawab captured three for 61 in 20 overs.
Zone-I Whites, in reply, reached their target for the loss of four wickets, scoring 180 in 43.1 overs.
Raheel-ur-Rehman led the way with a polished 62, spiced with three boundaries and a six. Junaid Ahmed finished with unbeaten 25.
KCCA president Munir Hussain, who was the chief guest, presented the winners trophy to Ahmed iqbal while Shaharyar Ahmed collected the runners-up trophy.
Ammad Rafiq was declared the man of the tournament while Abrar-ul-Haq (best batsman) and Jahanzeb Lodhi (best bowler) were also given special awards.
The Inter-zonal under-17 tournament will now commence from Sunday.
