KARACHI: Afaq slams govt policy

Published June 22, 2003

KARACHI, June 21: The chairman of Mohajir Qaumi Movement, Afaq Ahmed, has appealed to the national institutions to take notice of government’s policy to push mohajirs to the wall.

Talking to Dawn through a telephonic conversation on Saturday, he said unilateral action against the MQM-H by the government had worsened the situation.

He said that the government of President Musharraf had been exposed by taking biased steps to seek the support of Altaf’s party on the issue of Legal Framework Order (LFO). However, he said that the president did not have the right to crush a registered political party by force for seeking the support of the rival party.
