New CPNE chief

LAHORE, June 15: Jang/News editor-in-chief Mir Shakilur Rehman was elected president of Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors at the council’s annual meeting held here on Saturday.

Dr Jabbar Khattak of daily Awami Awaz was elected secretary-general and Altaf Hasan Qureshi of Urdu Digest as senior vice-president, says a press release.

Khushnood Ali Khan of daily Sahafat Islamabad, Pir Safaid Shah of daily Wehdat Peshawar, Mehmoodul Aziz of Pictorial News Review Karachi and Waseem Amjad of daily Awam Quetta were elected vice-presidents. Abdul Rashid Ghazi of daily Business Report Faisalabad and Mehtab Abbasi of daily Ausaf Islamabad were elected joint secretary and finance secretary, respectively.

JAMALI: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali extended his heartfelt felicitations to the newly-elected office-bearers of the CPNE, adds APP from Islamabad.
