Hat tricks by Arsalan, Samiullah

LAHORE, Dec 13: Samiullah scored five goals, including a hat trick, to help Musa Industries defeat Popular Chemicals by a wide margin of 8-3 1/2 and move into final of the December Cup polo tournament at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Thursday.

In another match of the day, Arsalan scored five goals, including a hat trick, to propel Power Soft to a narrow win by 6-5 1/2.

Popular Chemicals had advantage of half a goal on handicap and put in three goals during play. Samiullah was in brilliant form as he scored first three goals of Musa Industries to not only complete his hat trick but also put his team in commanding position. 

At the beginning of the match, Samiullah started with a field goal. He scored another field goal on a rebound of the 60 yards penalty-hit taken by his teammate Khurshid.

At beginning of the second round, Samiullah scored his third goal, crowning a combined move by his team. Captain Azhar Ali reduced the margin by also scoring a field goal with a long hit. At conclusion of the second chukker, Musa Industries led 3-1 1/2.

The third round was hard fought in which Musa Industries scored three goals as against two put in by Popular Chemicals. Shah Qublai Alam scored his both goals for Popular Chemicals. 

He converted a 30 yards penalty-hit and thereafter, a spot penalty near the goalpost. The losing team could not add any goal after that. 

For Musa Industries, Khurshid scored his only goal on a field effort.

Syed Hasan Raza Gillani struck twice for Musa Industries. He crowned a combined effort by his team and later converted a spot penalty near the goalpost. Musa Industries increased its lead to 6-3 1/2.

Samiullah dominated the fourth chukker. He scored two back-to- back field goals to make Musa Industries’ margin of the win 8-3 1/2.

Deutsche Bank enjoyed one-and-a-half goals’advantage on handicap and scored four goals during the game.

Arsalan was in very good form as he scored all the three goals of the first chukker to complete his hat-trick and give Power Soft an early lead of three goals to one-and-a-half. Arsalan scored the first goal on a 30 yards penalty-hit.

He scored second goal on a combined move by his side. Arsalan scored the third goal on a pass from Faaiz Rahim Khan.

At start of the second chukker, Ashfaq scored for Deutsche Bank with an angular hit. Arsalan scored Power Soft’s and his fourth goal in dying moments of the second chukker. PowerSoft led 4-2 1/2 at conclusion of the second chukker.

Faaiz Rahim Khan scored his only field goal for Power Soft at start of the third chukker. Arsalan scored his fifth goal on a 30 yards penalty-hit. Before end of this round, Abdur Rahman scored his only goal for Deutsche Bank. At the end of the third chukker, Power Soft led 6-3 1/2.

Deutsche Bank made a late rally during the fourth chukker to come back into the game but could score only two goals. Sufi Muhammad Amir scored his only goal with a lofted shot.

 Ashfaq scored his second goal, converting a 30 yards penalty-hit. However, the effort fell short of requirement as Power Soft won the match by 6-5 1/2.
