LAHORE, Dec 13: The Punjab Basketball Association body has been formed quietly according to which Faisal Sheikh and M Naeem Sheikh both from Lahore have been elected as president and secretary, respectively.

The body was formed on Dec 7 but the names of the office-bearers were not communicated to the press. The names of the office-bearers were collected from other sources as the election commissioner Syed Khawar Shah is currently in Saudi Arabia to perform Umra.

According to the information, all the office-bearers were nominated by different districts and were elected unopposed.

Out of total 34 districts of Punjab, 21 sent their recommendations for the office-bearers.

The elections were held on the instructions of the ad hoc body of the Pakistan Basketball Federation and the Punjab Sports Board appointed its  director Khawar Shah to conduct the elections .

Following districts sent their recommendations:

Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan,  Bahawalnagar, Muzafargarh, Bhakhar, Kasur, Lahore, Okara, Jhelum,  Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Bahawalpur, Sialkot and Rawalpindi.

The PBA office-bearers:

President: Faisal Sheikh (Lahore).

Vice-president: Faiz Rasool (Bahawalpur).

Secretary: M Naeem Sheikh (Lahore).

Associate secretaries: Waqar Husain (Rahim Yar Khan), Abdul Ghaffar (Sahiwal).

Finance secretary: Khalid Chaudhary (Rawalpindi).

Executive committee members:

Navid Ahmad Bajwa (Bahawalnagar), M Sajid Khan (Toba Tek Singh), Azmatullah Niazi (Bhakhar), Aftab Iqbal (Jhelum), Syed Wajid Husain Shah (Chakwal).
