KARACHI, Dec.7: An employee of Pakistan Steel Mills was shot dead in a suspected sectarian-cum-political attack in Nazimabad area of Karachi on Saturday night.

Syed Iftikhar Abbas Zaidi, who also worked as a part-time rickshaw driver, was an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Zaidi, 45, was purchasing something from a shop soon after dropping passenger(s) near Five Star roundabout when unidentified men on a motorcycle fired at him. Zaidi was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) condemned the murder and said Zaidai had been slain on sectarian grounds.

Meanwhile, the MWM held a protest on the University Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal where MWM leader Allama Deedar Jalbani was shot dead along with his guard earlier this week. The protesters lit candles at the crime scene.
