PIA upgrades reservation system

RAWALPINDI, June 10: Pakistan International Airlines has upgraded the Sabre reservation network to improve the seats reservation system and check irregularities on the part of some travel agents.

It would help in timely cancellation of bookings with fictitious numbers and would increase the revenue, said the PIA general manager, Imran Gardezi, here on Tuesday.

The PIA official said in the new system travel agents had been provided with auto-ticket printers so as to eliminate manual intervention, which was the major source of irregular bookings.

He added that some of the unscrupulous agents despite several warnings and penalties continued to indulge in malpractice by blocking seats for their clients and to save 50% no-show charges.
