MUMBAI, June 7: New Zealand will play two Tests and a one-day triangular series against world champions Australia and the hosts during this year’s tour of India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the dates for the Tests and the one-day tournament, which will take place from Oct 23 to Nov 18.

Bangalore and Mohali are expected to host the Tests, with the venues to be confirmed on June 30 by the board’s working committee.

New Zealand, due to arrive in India on Sept 23, begin their tour with two three-day matches against a Board President’s XI and an India ‘A’ side.

India leave for their tour of Australia on Nov 21. They will play four Tests followed by a one-day tri-series against the hosts and Zimbabwe.

Schedule (venues to be named):

Sept 26-28: New Zealand v Indian Board President’s XI.

Oct 2-4: New Zealand v India ‘A’.

Oct 8-12: First Test, India v New Zealand.

Oct 16-20: Second Test, India v New Zealand.

One-day tri-series:

Oct 23: India v New Zealand.

Oct 26: India v Australia.

Oct 29: Australia v New Zealand.

Nov 1: India v Australia.

Nov 3: Australia v New Zealand.

Nov 6: India v New Zealand.

Nov 9: Australia v New Zealand.

Nov 12: India v Australia.

Nov 15: India v New Zealand.

Nov 18: Final.

Meanwhile, having served “extremely hostile” tracks to India during the home cricket series last season, New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming is worried they might return the favour when he takes his side hoping to register his team’s first ever Test series win on Indian soil.

Fleming is worried on account of spinning tracks in that country. “I do worry about the type of pitches we are going to get after what happened in New Zealand during the summer,” he said.

During their New Zealand tour in Dec-Jan, the Indians played on pitches tailor-made for home bowlers, which not only offered great pace but also enormous movement.—Reuters
