Top seed Mansoor crushes Khayal

ISLAMABAD, June 7: Top seed Mansoor Zaman knocked out Khayal Muhammad on Saturday to qualify for the quarterfinals of the President PSF Squash Championship in Abbottabad.

Mansoor needed just over 35 minutes to down his opponent 15- 3, 15-7, 15-8 to set up a meeting in Sunday’s quarterfinals with Arshad Iqbal Burki.

Arshad defeated Shah Nawaz 15-12, 15-8, 15-13 in under an hour to go through along with Ijaz Azmat, who overpowered Wakeel Khan 15-10, 15-7, 9-15, 15-3.

Also making the last eight was Farhan Mahboob who had to be on court for barely 10 minutes when his rival Amjad Khan had to retire because of a recurring knee injury. Muhammad Ilyas, Farrukh Zaman, Zubair Ali Khan and Shahid Zaman were the others to advance.

Meanwhile, the Senior Vice President of PSF, Air Vice Marshal Raashid Kalim visited the venue of the tournament and met the players besides witnessing some matches. He also went round the complex where upgradation work is to begin soon.
