SIALKOT, June 7: Several passengers fainted in the sizzling heat when the engine of Lahore-Narowal 217-Up developed a fault leaving the train stranded for five hours in the Kala Khatai-Badomalhi section.
The authorities concerned arranged an alternate railway engine. Having no proper arrangements for drinking water and electricity, the train reached Narowal after a delay of six hours.
Meanwhile, bazaars, markets and roads gave a deserted look as the heat spell continued. The Sialkot met office has forecast that the heat wave is likely to continue for another four to five days.
RUMANIAN AMBASSADOR: Prof Dr Emil Ghitulescu, ambassador of Rumania in Islamabad, will spend a busy day in Sialkot on June 9.
The ambassador, who is the author of two books on Dr Allama Iqbal, would hold a meeting with mediamen and eminent scholars at 5:30pm, in Taj Hotel.
Prof Emil will earlier visit the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
