PESHAWAR, June 7: The NWFP government has decided in principle to sue Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed for, what it said, “damaging the image of the provincial government.

The NWFP minister for law and parliamentary affairs, Zaffar Azam, confirmed to Dawn that they had been consulting their legal advisers to file a damage suit against the information minister.

Sheikh Rashid, while commenting on the NWFP government’s reservations over the federal government announcement of bringing some administrative changes in the province, had dubbed the NWFP government “illiterate.” He stated that the provincial government was ignorant about the powers enjoyed by the federal government. Mr Azam said: “The NWFP government has decided in principle to sue the minister as he has tried to damage the image of the government by calling them illiterate.”
