KARACHI, June 6: The University of Karachi will organize a national level seminar in connection with the “Fatima Jinnah Year” in September 2003.

According to a press release, the KU vice-chancellor expects that President Musharraf will grace the seminar with his presence. The VC constituted a committee including Prof Dr Abu Zar Wajdi as its convenor, while Prof Dr Javed Hussain, Prof Tanveer Khalid, Prof Dr Jafar Ahmed and Prof Dr Khalida Ghous will be the members of the committee. The committee will plan and submit the programme, while it will also be responsible to publish a periodical on the occasion.

PhD dEGREE: The University of Karachi has awarded a PhD degree in English to Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan, a senior Assistant Professor of Government College, Lahore.

This is the first PhD degree in English, the University of Karachi has awarded since its inception.—PPI
