KARACHI: Man, woman shot dead

KARACHI, Oct 11: An unidentified young man was found shot dead near a graveyard in Manghopir on Thursday.

The police said that body of the young man, who was in his mid-twenties, was found in a taxi (JM-3482) in Ali Mohammad Goth, Manghopir. The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem, where doctors said that the young man had suffered a bullet wound to his chest.

The body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.

Unidentified persons shot a young woman to death in her apartment at Burhan Centre in Saddar on Thursday. The police said that Amroha Murtaza, aged 26, was alone in her house when unknown persons barged into her house and shot her.

The woman was rushed to JPMC where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. The police said that her husband, Murtaza, was a shopkeeper, and he was not at home at the time of the incident.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A young man died a road accident in Mochko area on Thursday night.

The police said that Abdul Qadir, aged 28, died in a collision between a passenger coach and the van he was driving. The driver of the coach was also injured in the accident, the police added.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man was electrocuted while repairing a water pump in his house in Korangi on Thursday.

The police said that Ali Mohammed, aged 35, was repairing a water pump in his house in Korangi K-Area when he was electrocuted. The body was sent to the JPMC for post-mortem, the police added. Ali Mohammed, motor mechanic by profession, was married.

CARJACKING: Cars of a television artiste and a police inspector were hijacked in the city on Thursday.

Khalid was on his way in his car to participate in the shooting of a television programme when three armed men intercepted him in PECHS, snatched the keys of his car from him and drove it away.

Bandits deprived a senior police officer of his car in Gizri police limits. Inspector Nasir Husain was on his way in a car when three men intercepted him, snatched the keys of the car, his service revolver, cash and drove away the car.

ROBBERIES: Four robberies were committed in the city on Thursday, the police said.

Bandits barged into the house of a businessman, Mohammed Abbas, in Rizvia Society, and looted cash and gold jewellery.

A gang of thugs dashed into the house of Ghayasyddin in the same locality, held the family as hostage at gunpoint, and took away cash and valuables.

Bandits robbed a shopkeeper, Faisal Rasheed, of cash at Anar Kali Bazaar in Joharabad.

Dacoits robbed the cashier of a factory, Sibtain, of cash in New Karachi.

ARRESTED: The police claimed to have arrested three men on Thursday when they were looting passengers of a bus.

Three men boarded a minibus as passengers at Habib Bank Chowrangi in SITE for Sher Shah. When the minibus reached Sher Shah, the bandits brought out guns and asked the passengers to hand over to them whatever they had with them. As they were snatching cash from passengers, the police were alerted which reached there and arrested the three bandits.
