OKARA, Dec 12: Local police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested three gangs involved in cases of inter-district dacoities and car snatching.
Alam Sheram alias Shikara gang’s seven out of 10 members have been arrested with bogus registration books of six cars worth Rs4.5 million. Police have also recovered a rifle, a shot gun, three pistols and 50 bullets from their possession.
Five members of a gang, involved in robberies, were arrested with 10 tolas of ornaments, two motorcycles and seven wristwatches worth Rs200,000. Three culprits are still at large.
A gang of Ghulam Rasul was also arrested with a car, colour televisions, a VCR set and other valuables worth Rs600,000.
It was briefed by the City police station by CIA SSP Cap Mukhtar Amin (retired) in a press conference.
CONDEMNED: Traders and social workers have condemned secret property tax survey by the exise and taxation office under the locality based formula and for giving two days for filing the objection by the property owners in the municipal limits of Okara and Town Haveli Lakha.
The protesters include Anjuman-i-Tajran secretary-general Malik Qadeer Husain, president Saddar bazaar Rana Sajid, Jamat-i-Islami Naib Ameer Azhar Mahmood and social workers.
