RAWALPINDI, June 1: PML-Q central vice president Syed Kabir Ali Wasti on Sunday said confrontation between the government and opposition was in nobody’s interest.
According to a press statement issued here, he asked the opposition to stop agitations and pave the way for smooth functioning of the democratic system.
He warned that failure of the democratic system would be failure of the opposition legislators too. “If the system crashes, nobody will survive,” he maintained.
Mr Wasti praised the PML-Q president and parliamentary leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for making efforts to break the deadlock. About opposition’s threat to block the next budget, he asked the opposition not to go to the extent of yet another “abortion” of the parliament before the completion of its constitutional tenure.
He said fragile democracy would flourish only when better sense prevailed and main players agreed to make the system a success. He said the PML-Q government had a clear majority to pass the budget.
“Those talking of presentation of the LFO in the House and sovereignty of the parliament, must remember that passage of the budget by August is essential to make the parliament sovereign.”
