LAHORE, June 1: The police investigation wing on Sunday arrested the PML-N MPA, Ajasam Sharif, on charges of beating up a doctor on the panel of Punjab Assembly.

A case was registered against the MPA on Saturday on the complaint of Dr Tariq Bokhari. The police said they had raided his Mozang house on Sunday and shifted him to the investigation police headquarters.

Dr Bokhari told the police that the MPA had asked him to sign a bill for costly medicines that he never used.

The doctor alleged that the MPA gave him a good thrashing when he refused to sign the bill. “He also hurled abuse at me. This was not the first time that he had done so.”

Dr Bokhari said all the MPAs had the right to use the Punjab Assembly medical budget, but nobody could be allowed to misuse it.arrest condemned: PML-N leaders have condemned the arrest of their colleague —- MPA Ajasim Sharif —- saying it was part of government’s well thought-out plan.

They said in their separate statements that it was a move to suppress opposition’s protest campaign. However, they made it clear that they would not give in to such pressure tactics.— Reporter
