TOBA TEK SINGH, June 1: The district council has under Section 64 of the Local Government Ordinance suspended the resolution passed by the Gojra tehsil council regarding construction of shops at timber market.

The district council decided at a meeting on Saturday that the resolution would remain suspended for a fortnight. In the meanwhile, a district council committee would review the resolution and submit its report to district Naib Nazim Haji Ghulam Rabbani.

Nazim of a Gojra union council, Naseer Ahmad, had brought the matter to the district council meeting. He stated that tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Khalid Javed Warraich had got approved a resolution from the Gojra tehsil council during its last meeting, allowing the construction of shops at timber market on private property.

He said that the Gojra tehsil council members were kept in dark at the time of the approval of the resolution and were told that the market would be constructed in Chak No 370 JB on a vacant piece of land. —Correspondent
