FAISALABAD, Dec 12: A protest movement will be launched against the government after Eid which will continue till the release of all the arrested religious leaders and the ouster of the military regime.

This was stated by Jamaat-i-Islami city amir Mehboobuz Zaman while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.

He alleged that the present rulers had ruined the democratic system just to prolong their rule in the country. He said the country had been facing serious internal and external problems due to wrong decisions of the government. In case the Musharraf government did not change its foreign policy, Pakistan would face a civil war in the near future, he apprehended.

He criticized the statements of the interior minister about action against madaris and religious leaders.

He demanded the rulers to release all the office-bearers and representatives of religious bodies otherwise the angry masses would kick them out from the corridor of power.

The JI leader also demanded the government to hold fresh general elections in the country and hand over the power to an elected government.

Three masked highwaymen snatched a car from Shahid Ali in Chak Jhumra.

Seven villagers were robbed of valuables by some bandits in Chak 61-JB, Khurianwala.
