KARACHI, June 1: Police said 138 vehicles — 46 cars and 92 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen during the past one week in various parts of the city.

During the last week of May 101 vehicles — 35 cars and 66 motorcycles—were taken way. The past week marked a 26.81 percent increase in car hijacking and motorcycle lifting incidents, as compared with the week before

According to police statistics, 28 cars were hijacked and 18 stolen in Jamshed Town, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Johar, Clifton, Saddar, North Nazimabad, Gulberg and other areas.

Thirty-three motorcycles were hijacked and 59 stolen in various areas including Gulberg, North Karachi, Korangi, Orangi Town, Saddar, SITE, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Liaquatabad and Lyari.

Police also claimed to have recovered 48 stolen cars and an equal number of motorcycles in many areas during the past one week.
