KARACHI, June 1: A young man was shot dead and his father and brother were injured in their house in New Karachi early Sunday morning.

Police said that some armed men entered a house in sector 5-F and held the inmates hostage at gunpoint.

As they were busy collecting valuables from the house, Mohammad Shahid, aged 28, tried to put up a resistance. The armed men shot Shahid and injured his father, Abdul Rasheed, and his brother, Abdul Hameed, and fled from the house.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where Shahid was pronounced dead on arrival. The injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified woman died in a hit-and-run accident near Grumandir on Sunday.

Police said that a woman in her mid 30s was knocked down by a speeding coach near Mazar-i-Quaid. She was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
