CHAKWAL, Sept 11: On the directives of a local court, the Neela police on Wednesday registered a murder case against a woman who had allegedly poisoned her boyfriend, even though the police believe the woman was innocent.

The 21-year-old woman, a resident of Warwal Village located 50km from Chakwal city, was accused of poisoning her 25-year-old friend.

Both had pledged to tie the knot but caste division became an impediment in their way.

Their parents had refused their demand as the man belonged to a lower social class. A month ago, the man’s parents forced him to marry a girl from his tribe.

However, a few days after his marriage, the man contacted the girl once again and decided to meet her.

According to the man’s parents, both had gone at the bank of Soan River where the girl added poison to the victim’s cold drink.

He was later rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal and then referred to Rawalpindi due to his critical condition, but died on the way.

On the other hand, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Neela police Nazar Hussain said the man had not been poisoned by the girl and had himself consumed the poisonous pills.

“Both lovers had planned to commit suicide, but when the time came, the man took the pills while the woman simply refused,” the SHO claimed while talking to Dawn.

He added that the man confessed of taking the poisonous pills in front of a doctor and an investigation officer at the hospital.

“Our investigation officer has submitted an application to the doctor at DHQ Hospital to record his statement,” he maintained.—Correspondent
