LAHORE, Sept 7: An under-trial prisoner of Camp Jail allegedly died from poisoning on Saturday while another was hospitalised in serious condition.

Police said Mushtaq alias Makha and Saqib of Shahdara took the meal which rendered them unconscious. Mushtaq died on the spot while Saqib was admitted to the Services Hospital in critical condition.

The families of both inmates alleged the jail officials had served poisonous meal to the both prisoners who were facing trial for kidnapping a child for ransom and later killing him in Shahdara. The families also alleged that some members of the jail staff were heavily bribed for poisoning the both.

The jail administration said the actual cause of the inmate’s death would be determined after the post-mortem examination. They said the Anti-Terrorism Court, where the both victims were under trial, had also been informed of the incident through an initial medical report. Both accused had to be presented before the ATC on Saturday.

ROBBERY: Four robbers barged into the house of Dr Jameel in Liaqtabad police limits and took away cash and valuables all worth Rs1.2million after tying up the family members with ropes.

Two robbers approached motorcyclist Ibrahim and his wife in Ghaziabad police limits and snatched six tola gold ornaments and some cash.
