An estimated 421 people have been killed in Cairo over the past three days. Egyptian security forces, as well as local residents, clashed with members of the Muslim Brotherhood along with supporters of deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.

Clashes broke out in central Cairo on Tuesday when President Morsi’s supporters came under attack as they marched to the Interior Ministry. Supporters of the new military-installed government hurled stones at the marchers and threw bottles at them from balconies. Police then fired tear gas at the pro-Morsi protesters.

A few thousand pro-Morsi protesters were taking part in the march when trouble erupted, who in turn responded by hurling stones back at their assailants.The security crackdown on the Islamist movement has left the most populous Arab nation polarised and in turmoil.— Text by Reuters.
